I am a tropical biologist who worked extensively in the American tropics, especially in lowland wet forests in lower Central America and on tepuis in Venezuela. Our trip with Pete Oxford to the Pantanal was the BEST wildlife experience of my career (including the Okavango Delta of Botswana). I saw new "life list" species, but the best parts of the trip were the repeated, long encounters with wildlife species. Pete was the perfect guide who has deep knowledge of the natural history of the ecosystem and her denizens. The group was great and the experience was rejuvenating on many levels. I look forward to my next POE tour. In the meanwhile I can scan my photos, look at my husband's photos, and we can relive some of those moments of wonderment. Thanks Pete for making a long-held dream come true--complete with new friends. Hasta pronto!

Just got back from an amazing and fabulous trip to the Pantanal and Iguazu Falls. We saw Jaguars on all our trips out on the rivers by boat and other wildlife including river otter, tapirs, capybara, ocelot and various bird species. Pete has a genuine passion for wildlife and a vast knowledge of the area. This is the first time I have travelled with Pete and the trip was well organise and I can't wait to travelled again on another trip.

This was our first trip with POE, and it lived up to and surpassed our expectations in every way. Pete led the trip and his enthusiasm, drive and commitment was evident from the very start. We were lucky enough to have great jaguar sightings every day, plus giant otters, caiman, capybara, coati and a vast number bird species. He shared our excitement and pure delight at also seeing ocelot, tapir and an anteater. Pete has excellent wildlife experience and knowledge and our local guide, Anselmo, provided the answers to our many questions regarding local flora, birds, insects etc. We added the Iguassu Falls extension, and were 'blown away' by the Falls – this was a brilliant way to complete the trip by staying in the luxurious Das Cataratas Hotel, which gave us a chance to recharge our batteries and relax, while taking advantage of the unlimited access to the falls. The entire trip was planned by Pete and Renee to give us an amazing insight into the Pantanal – the itinerary worked well with no hitches and gave just the right amount of experiences and down-time.

After an extraordinary trip to Mongolia I had to do another trip with Pete Oxford Expeditions. My recent trip to the Pantanal and Iguazu was just as good in a different way. The common denominators with the trips are expeditions into out of the way places, wonderful sightings of living creatures big and small with detailed information about them, Pete’s infectious enthusiasm and above all loads of fun. Pete has a passion for wildlife and is always keen to pass this on. He has travelled the world, has a vast knowledge and experience of the people and animals in these areas and is happy to share them with you. Pete does not do the classic photography workshop but will take you to places and situations where you can have the opportunity to get great original pictures or simply sit back and enjoy the situation.
I am looking forward to the next exciting trip with Pete - I just don’t know which one to pick first.

What an extraordinary country - vast and diverse landscapes, sinuous tropical rivers, abundant wildlife, endless opportunities for exploration. I cannot imagine a wilder, more fascinating place. And what an extraordinary leader to help this first-time visitor see, appreciate, and understand as much as - and more than - is possible in a too-brief trip. Pete has an uncanny eye for everything in the natural world - mammals, reptiles, fish, birds, insects, trees, vines - and infectious enthusiasm for sharing the wonders with others. He has an equal interest in, and close relationship with, the people of Guyana and makes the cultural landscape as meaningful as the natural one. His attention to details - logistics, special interests and needs of clients - is thorough, tireless, and always upbeat. I've taken many great trips to tropical wild places but this one was especially rich and captivating. My husband and I hope to return to Guyana - and would only do that with Pete as our leader.
