VIEW ITINERARY

pre trip: Arrive into Cape Town or Johannesburg for overnight in a hotel near the airport to catch the flight to Maun on 13 May, 2022 the following morning. Everyone will be staying one night in Maun at the Thamalakane River Lodge before the trip officially starts.

A Day 1, May 14th am: Maun to Tubu Tree

After breakfast we will transfer to the Maun Airport to board a light aircraft to Tubu Tree Camp to arrive in time for an afternoon game drive. o/n Tubu Tree.

B Days 2 – 3, May 15th – 16th: Tubu Tree

Tubu Tree camp Is a traditional style camp in the west of the Okavango Delta. The eight tents are raised above the ground and connected by an elevated walkway. Views are over the floodplain and offer spectacular wildlife viewing. The communal bar, sits under the shade of a large marula tree and is the perfect place to recap the days events. There are often large concentrations of game which can be viewed either from land or water. o/n Tubu Tree.

C Day 4, May 17th am: Tubu Tree to Chitabe Lediba

After a morning activity we will transfer by light aircraft to Chitabe Lediba to arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. o/n Chitabe Lediba.

C Days 4 – 6, May 18th – 19th: Chitabe Lediba

Located in the south east of the delta Chitabe Lediba offers a different suite of habitats than our previous stay in Tubu Tree. As such the wildlife is equally diverse. Both mammal and bird sightings are excellent and if we are lucky, the chances to see African wild dog and other top predators are good. The traditional Meru tents, dining area and pool overlook an animal rich lagoon.o/n Chitabe Lediba.

D Day 7, May 20th am: Chitabe Lediba to Vumbura Plains North

After a morning activity we will transfer by light aircraft to Vumbura Plains to arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. o/n Vumbura Plains North.

D Day 8, May 21st: Vumbura Plains North

Set in the north of the Okavango Delta the Vumbura Plains North camp is a fitting end to the Botswana safari as we immerse ourselves in the luxury on offer. Each with our own plunge pools overlooking the floodplains we can spend the time between game drives soaking ourselves while watching the comings and goings of the abundant wildlife. Our safaris may be by vehicle, speed boat, mokoro or even on foot. Either way we will have some stunning wildlife viewing including many of the 600+ bird species. A EDay 9, May 22nd: Vumbura Plains North via light aircraft to Maun or Victoria Falls

For those going home today you will depart camp in a light aircraft for Maun Airport to connect with international flights home. The group that are going on to Victoria Falls will be on a charter flight via Kasane to go on to Victoria Falls airport and the Victoria Falls Hotel.

F Day 10, May 23rd: Victoria Falls Hotel

Your stay is on a bed and breakfast basis only. There are many dining options both in the hotel and in the town. There are also a wide choice of activities ranging from bungy jumping, white-water rafting, helicopter overflights, wonderful craft shopping and of course the incredible falls themselves.

A Day 12, May 24th: Flights home.

Transfer from the Victoria Falls hotel to Victoria Falls airport for your international flights back to Johannesburg to connect to your flights home.

Pete and and his wife Reneé are southern African experts. Recently, while they lived for 26 months within a national park in South Africa, they were directly involved in helping decide on managerial protocols. They have led trips and explored Africa scores of times and own a second home on the rocky shoreline of the Western Cape. It is always with immense excitement that they look forward to their next African safari and with tremendous longing for more when it comes to an end. Pete has been the overall winner of South Africa’s well known Getaway magazine’s competition and has also been regularly featured in South Africa’s annual Agfa photographic competitions. He has often written for the respected Africa Geographic Magazine and, while living in South Africa, was one of the magazine’s official bloggers. Reneé and Pete are well placed to design custom itineraries and would like nothing more than to share their passion and enthusiasm for the African bush with you.
