In common with most Birdlife International Rare Bird Club members, I have been round the block as it were on international wildlife travel. This was one of the best. Pete lined up jaguars in profusion, swimming, lazing in trees (the jaguars hadn't read that handbook that says they don't climb trees!), mating, teaching their young and stalking and eating small cute capybara youngster that we had just photo opportunitied as a charming family! Oops!
And when we said, but we are Birdlife folk, he got us birds including lifers for the hardened and Hyacinth Macaws for those of a more flashy taste.
He is the Duracell bunny. Everything is a wonder to him and he had us Duracelled too pretty soon into the trip. I will never forget the giant anteater's sashay to a waterhole, looking like a caricature of its cartoon self. It just needed pearls and a handbag to complete the image. Definitely the colourway of my next hairdo.
It was all a joy. Thanks, Pete.

Mongolia
By Janie C
Mongolia is an extraordinarily beautiful country and one that had been on our bucket list for a while. Pete and Renee put together an astounding trip for us where we experienced what we felt was the 'real' Mongolia. Not the tourist areas that must exist (!) but the Gobi Desert by camel, 3 days in the Altaii mountains on horseback with 3 eagle hunters for company, camping beside rivers and lakes, a snow leopard no less - but we had to work hard for that one! I haven't even mentioned the absolutely stunning landscape, the incredibly good food (a pleasant surprise!), fascinating visits to families in their Gers being welcomed with yak tea and bread and butter, watching Mongolian horses being broken in, helping (or not!) to shear sheep is to name but a few of the numerous highlights. No detail was left to chance and when things did go pear-shaped (cancelled flights, bad weather etc) they always somehow managed to work it to our advantage. As with any trip with Pete and Renee I could go on and on.....
There is magic when you travel with Pete Oxford Expeditions.

Pete took us through the Amazon rain forest on a trip that opened our eyes and our hearts to the wondrous wildlife all around us. I felt like every day was a moveable feast, from watching magnificent macaws perch on a clay lick to tracking down elusive tapirs on an all-night foray in the jungle. Pete has a deep knowledge of the rain forest, a gift for working with people from all walks of life, and is one of the best storytellers I have ever encountered. With his guidance, our small group of friends spontaneously came together to build on each other’s skills and interests to expand our horizons. And it was just plain fun: every day had a new thrill of discovery. I recommend him highly to anybody wanting adventure with a smart and resourceful guide who has done the hard work to navigate the territory.

Mongolia

This trip to Mongolia with Pete and Renee was just incredible. There was a saying floating round the air on our walks or on our rides that was ‘law of attraction’. For us, this meant that if we really wanted to see a specific animal or a specific bird or experience a specific experience we could and we would. This saying could not be more appropriate for Pete and Renee! They put so much excitement and effort into every single day which meant we were able to experience once in a life time events such as meeting all kinds of people across Mongolia or sitting and watching a dozing snow leopard on top of a mountain which truly felt like you were with the gods!
The behind the scenes detail was every part as thought out as the plan for the day, we were so well looked after not only by Pete and Renee but also by the Mongolians and the Kazakhs. So much goes into these trips and we got so much out of it - thank you. You guys always always go above and beyond to make every part memorable so I want to thank you both as I honestly will never forget it!! Mongolia is such a beautiful country with such beautiful traditions, I would go back in a heartbeat.

Mongolia

What a magical experience with Pete and Renee. We have just returned from over 2 weeks with them and their team in Mongolia and I am not sure I am quite the same person! We rode camels in the beautiful Gobi desert, camped in spectacular locations by rivers and streams, trekked 75 Km’s on horseback with eagle hunters and their magnificent birds and ate delicious food on the way. We hiked up the Altai mountains and spotted the elusive snow leopard which was a special highlight! We met the wonderful nomadic people in their summer camps who welcomed us into their lovely homes to meet their families and their animals which we loved. We have travelled all over the world with some great travel companies but we were so well looked after by Pete and Renee who make extraordinary things happen and bring the extra magic! Already planning the next trip! Thank you guys....Louise x
